Welcome to my online library.
I am a Professor Emeritus at Antioch University Seattle where I taught in the BA Liberal Studies Program for 30 years and was the coordinator of the Psychology and Spiritual Studies concentrations.
Prior to my career at Antioch University, I taught K-12 students for 10 years, including 3 years at the Hiroshima International School in Hiroshima, Japan. I am also the President Emeritus of the Board at Rite of Passage Journeys, a non-profit dedicated to restoring rites of passage for youth, adults and elders, and where I led adult vision quests for many years.
I am a Certified Sage-ing Leader with Sage-ing International and serves on their executive and ritual committees. I am also the Co-President of The C.G. Jung Society of Seattle, bringing the insights of depth psychology to bear on global rites of passage and the dark night of the species soul. I continue to teach classes in Dreamwork, Ritual Process, Elderhood and Rites of Passage.
I am the co-author of the book Nagasaki Spirits, Hiroshima Voices: Making Sense of the Nuclear Age and co-editor of the book Rites of Passage Into Elderhood. In my spare time I am a grandfather to five and like to play pickleball, strum my guitar, and paddle mys kayak on his beloved Salish Sea.

“The only war that matters is the war against the imagination.
All other wars are subsumed within it. …
It is a war for this world,
to keep it a vale of soul-making.”
